My go-to hijab

Sunday, May 08, 2016

My black Kashkha hijab is my go-to hijab, omw I love it so much and I'm sure you can tell from all my selfies. In my opinion I'd say having the perfect black hijab is equivalent to having the perfect black dress. It's great to have in your hijab collection or to start one, it matches with everything, fits perfectly and is great for winter and summer! Choosing the perfect one can be difficult, mines is in the light, simple and is made from this soft material, which is from their new line. I keep mine stashed away from the rest of the hijabs mwahaha always scared it will go missing, yes in my home it's pretty cut throat when it comes to hijabs especially if it's one you wanted to wear when you go out. Sigh hijabi family problems lol

Here is a similar one I found on their website where you can purchase this click here
In South Africa you can find this at most Egyptian abaya/hijab stores, which is very convenient!
The one I had before was the standard material (not woolen) not as soft and when I say soft I don't mean jersey...why is this so hard to describe pull yourself together Zainab?! This is what I considered when choosing my perfect black hijab, yes I went through many before finding the one I reach for the most.

1. Is the quality good?

Being that this is a hijab that will get the most use because it will match with everything, you need to get one of good quality. Now this may be a bit pricey than the others but it will be worth it, especially Kashkha they are on the higher end of hijab brands, but you get many brands nowadays, instagram is overflowing with them!

2. Which material suits your location?

I say this because choosing your hijabs does depend on where you stay especially what the climate usually is. This will help you decide if you want a cool soft material or woolen material, living in the dessert I usually go for soft materials when it comes to my hijabs, I'd die in heat if I wore a thick material hijab; "like get it offff!!!!", but if you live in countries where it snows or is usually cold this material is perfect, keep those ears warm.

3. How much bling does it have?

My tip here is to go with no bling or as little as possible. If this is a hijab you're going to wear in almost every aspect of your life like work, casual or even special occasions it's best to have little bling and to add to it, rather than to have a lot to work with. It may not be professional in some situations which is why less is way more, also go for a material that's not heavy.

There are not a lot of things to consider when choosing your perfect black hijab, but these are some things to consider so you won't be disappointed or won't have to keep buying because the one you have is a bit too much.
I like it because for a 'black' hijab it's very cool for summer, I don't feel uncomfortable in the extreme heat which is surprising, it's soft but stay's put in the style I put it in and washing it the colour does not fade! As awesome as it is to have funky printed hijabs, it's best to have a few solid colours. It will be easier to match with outfits that have prints or designs so you don't look like a walking fabric store.

I also have a go-to Hijab, as well as just one style I wear it in. For weddings or Eid I might dress it up a bit, but for everyday convenience I prefer fuss free simplicity

    1. I love simplicity especailly if I'm running around all day and won't have time to look in the mirror so I can afford to wear something so fancy and risk it from falling all over the place looking like I'm a hot mess :p

  5. I love black...most of my hijabs are black! And getting the right material is so important.

However I have found most black hijabs are hot in the summer...or maybe I just haven't found the right material yet.
