So recently I attended a walima
and even though it wasn't the first time I wore a dress with a trail
I realized how many small tips and tricks I use to help me survive the whole occasion
without falling on my face.

DRESS: Jeddah Saudi Arabia
SCARF: Kashkha

I won't lie I always have such a battle finding a matching hijab,
I tend to have more printed hijabs than plain ones
and the plain ones I usually find is very heavy and hot.
Sorting out your hijab in advance is now something I learn't to do,
checking online, stores or resorting to going to a fabric shop and finding the matching material.

When wearing a dress with a trail,
always make sure you adjust it well,
find the perfect place to pick up so it still flows nicely but so you can also walk properly
without tripping.
Also make sure when you purchase a dress with a trail to check if it needs to be altered at the bottom.
Many dresses with trails even with heels are extremely long so getting it professionally tailored at the bottom can make walking all over the place so much easier.
Also note what fabric your dress is,
don't just take your dress to any person to get altered
or your dress will get ruined.

Another tip is to always test your heels out,
walk around your house in your entire outfit with the heel of your choice.
This will show you if its comfortable,
if it's not tugging on your dress and is it easier to walk in them.
You don't want to leave for the occasion only to realize there that walking around is a mission,
with a trail your shoes should be the last of your struggle.

Before your makeup a day before or night before do a facial.

Give your face some loving so it can radiate naturally through the makeup.
If you know you usually break out right after a facial do this a week in advance
and gently exfoliate your face the day before,
to remove the dead skin cells and make the surface smooth.

I used The Body Shop Blue Corn Purifying Mask during this particular tlc time.
I also like to sleep with some Brightening Eye Patches the night before.
Finally day off the occasion I like to wear a sheet mask,
which makes my face soft and it is very moisturizing,
which is always a plus when you want your makeup to sit nicely.

When doing a full face of makeup especially for an occasion,
where there will be a lot of lights and photography,
where you won't be able to touch up much or even check your face
you need to BAKE!!!!

For those that doesn't know;
baking is a process of setting your concealer and in my opinion  also cream/liquid contour.
This will intensify the look and keep it in place the whole time,
it also won't crack, become patchy or even fade away.
Your under eye concealer and under your contour using a translucent powder
(make sure it has no flash back)
your contour with a powder contour.

The process is basically packing the loose powder with a damp sponge
on top of your concealer or contour leaving if for a long time.
So I bake while I do my eye makeup,
this can save your life if there is fall out from the eye shadows by the way.
After I just sweep it away with my fluffy brush gently.
