THIS SMELLS SO GOOD!!!!!!
With winter in full swing on my side of the world a good scrub comes in handy
and one that smells like ginger bread is a bonus!!!!
I love making scrubs and masks,
I think if you have been following me for a while now you know that about me.
It's something my granny instilled in me,
but DIY skincare is the way to go
because it's so much more healthier for the skin.

Now making this mask for the first time I tweaked the ingredient quantities
to make it perfect,
so when you follow this recipe it won't be as chocolate brown.
Be very light handed with the ground ginger
and especially the coconut oil.
I do think next time I will use olive oil
because personally I'm not a fan of the coconut oil scent.

Making it the first time I can see how all the warm spices can over power one another,
so light handed is key.
This is amazing to keep for yourself, make for your family or give as a gift.
If you want to give it as a gift pop the mix in a mason jar,
add a wooden spoon so it's easy to scoop from the jar and add a chalk label to the jar.

This is a hit in my family,
I got everyone to try it out and give their feed back and they love it,
It will really leave your skin so soft and smooth!

  1. This sounds like it would smell amazing!

I'm curious though, I've never made DIY scrubs. I always used store-bought sugar scrubs with all the added life extending chemicals. How long do you think a concoction like this might last in a high-humidity environment like Karachi, Pakistan?

I imagine that it would just be a big mess of melted goo if I left it in my bathroom, even with a lid on, for even a day or two. :(

    1. So I tried this scrub in winter our side so it so far has lasted over a week. I do have to stir it the first couple of days because the coconut oil settles at the top but than it soaks up with the sugar so it is all good.

I assume in summer it will harden. It won't "go off" because all the products used are shelf products, usually non of this is stored in the fridge generally. But a great tip would be to store it in the fridge, especially in summer this will be an amazing cool scrub for you skin.

  2. Thanks for sharing this, not sure how my skin would react to putting all those herbs and spices on it I have hyper sensitive skin and it's really hard to find things I can use on it

    1. Try making a tablespoon amount and test on your arm, if you do not want to use the spices you can use the basic sugar and coconut/olive oil which works just as perfectly and won't affect sensitive skin.

  3. Love this and would love to try it as I don't really have a natural scrub at the moment. Have you tried any scrubs with Argan oil by any chance? I love your blog theme btw!

    1. Can never go wrong with home made lol I love this scrub, I want to try with olive oil because the scent isn't as strong. But it's so softening!

  6. Beneficial & money saving DIY - I'm sure it smells really nice.

Hmmmh... I'm totally useless with keeping up with beauty regimens but would love to experiment with this just for the fun of it. And because it looks safe and even edible.

    1. It smells like gingerbread cookies!!!!! Super safe especially since it's home made and there is no chemicals involved. I will say if you have sensitive skin you may want to just make a bit to test out because there are spices in this DIY. But this is an easy way to soften and moisturise your skin all at once which saves time and money!

  7. Oh my gosh! I just didnt know that you could put all these spices on face too hehe! I love love love coconut and coconut oil and i think I had an idea of using a brown-sugar & coconut oil scrub and i think I tried that too but never with all these spices.

But well, now that i know, maybe one day I will actually sit down and try it on my skin :)

    1. Super easy to whip up in your kitchen lol I will say and I think I should add a disclaimer to my post if you have sensitive skin you may want to test a bit to see you don't react to the spices. But yes you can scrub your face and especially your body with this scrub and it is amazing!
