RAMADAN MUBARAK EVERYONE!!

The month we have all be waiting for is finally here
and I'm so excited!
Now most of you must have prepped A LOT when it comes to the food area of Ramadan,
if you follow my food blog you know what I mean, all those savouries done and ready.
But when it comes to Ramadan one should remember
that prepping shouldn't only be towards food
but also of how to spiritually enlighten the rest of your life.

Allah has blessed us with this lovely month
which we can all use every year to make ourselves better Muslims.
Time to take a step back and re-evaluate our life.
We should try to carry on with the way we behave in Ramadan throughout the year
and not let a moment pass that we regret not spending it in the right way.

So I am going to be sharing a few tips and ways
you can make the most of this blessed month spiritually,
how you can strengthen your faith
and learn new things about Islam as well.
Use this time of the month to bring your family together,
by spending more time together and really enjoying this beautiful month.

RAMADAN DECORATIONS

Now this is one I WISH WE DID! I love the idea of hanging up fairy lights, tinsel, lanterns, paper artwork of the crescent and star etc. I feel that just pumps your mood and gets you so much more excited for Ramadan instantly.

If you have kids in your home this is something you should be doing. It is a way to get them excited, get the Ramadan spirit going, way to teach your kids more about Ramadan, it will instantly have everyone happy and smiling. It is a way to celebrate this lovely blessed month, because why not.

If you take a look at other religions and you see how they portray their holy day's such as Christmas or Holi even if you aren't apart of the religion you can feel the love and happiness so why not show and spread the exact same feeling about an Islamic blessed month and big days?

Okay I know Ramadan is basically a day away, quick decoration ideas is hang up fairy lights and make a 'Ramadan Mubarak' banner. You could use the idea of the kids making signs or any crafty decoration as a distraction during the first couple of nights till a routine is in motion.

NO TV AND MUSIC 🚫

I know quite a lot of Muslims who turn off the tv and stop listening to music during the month of Ramadan. This is something my family has been doing probably before I was even born. So as a child I was always distracted by my nanny or with toys, tv or kid shows was never allowed even to distract me.

I don't think Islamic kid shows are wrong to help distract your child during the hectic iftaar period.

I will say as you get older one should try to not watch series/movies and listen to music during this blessed month. Ramadan has given us a lovely opportunity to cleanse our-self and we shouldn't waste a moment during this month to watch a season finale of a series or a match.

This is also a great month to spend listening to the Quraan; in your car, on a work break, lecture break or while you are relaxing for a bit. There are so many benefits to listening to the Quraan being read, not only is it calming it's also it's a great way to memorize or perfect your surahs.

PRACTICING TO WEAR HIJAB/ABAYA

During Ramadan many Muslimahs usually wear hijab, abaya or both through out the month and it's amazing. I would say take advantage of this month especially if you have been thinking of changing your style in a more modest sense or wanting to start wearing hijab or abaya. Use this month to practice and better yourself in the way you look.
Personally for me in Ramadan I wear abaya throughout the month, Insha-Allah I hope one-day I can reach the point where I can wear it full time.

During this month no matter how big or small a good act may seem the benefits are endless, in those big or little acts you are still pleasing Allah and that will open so many doors for you in this world and the next Insha-Allah.

SITTING ON THE FLOOR TOGETHER AS A FAMILY AND EATING HEALTHY FOOD DURING RAMADAN

I don't know about you but during Ramadan I eat way more than the rest of the year, which defeats the purpose of Ramadan!

During Ramadan we fast not only to detox ourselves spiritually but also health wise. Fasting is a cleanse, that means when we do eat we shouldn't eat the entire freezer every time we break our fast.

One of the main principles of good health is a balanced diet. So plan good meals for iftaar, I'm not saying don't snack or eat junk but don't over indulge.

Remember Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasised the habit of eating less as a method of preventing sickness and disease. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“Nothing is worse than a person who fills his stomach. It should be enough for the son of Adam to have a few bites to satisfy his hunger. If he wishes more, it should be: One-third for his food, one-third for his liquids, and one-third for his breath.”

– Tirmidhi & Ibn Majah

Every Ramadan we have our iftaar on the floor, it is a sunnah to sit on the floor and it is a sunnah we try to practice during Ramadan and Insha-Allah may we carry on after. We love it, but as winter is happening on my side of the world we're shifting from sitting on the dinning room floor to the sitting room because it's much closed off so we can keep the room warm. This is an easy way to bring a sunnah into our life and please Allah especially during Ramadan.

Finally eating as a family, it's only recently have I come to realise a lot of families do not sit and have at least one meal together, which I think is very important. This is a perfect opportunity to have some good quality family time that can strengthen the family bond and also increase the sustenance (barakah) in the family (side not no phones at the table rule should be implemented).

If you are looking for meal inspirations be sure to check out my food blog, I have shared many home-cooked meals which are so easy to follow along. From traditional to fusion food, there is something for everyone. This will make your Ramadan meals a bit easier than wrecking your brain with what to cook for supper (iftaar).

I love this blogger, she is so inspiring, hardworking and so beautiful. I know you will love her content as much as I do.

 KAJOOR/DATES AND CUCUMBER

I know this basically falls under food but I wanted to say this on it's own because sadly this is a forgotten sunnah. During Ramadan everyone is eating and serving dates in abundance not only is it a sunnah but it's good for your health.
However the sunnah way of eating dates/kajoor is with cucumber which I LOVE! It tastes so good especially with Ajwa.

There are many health benefits to this combination, the main one being because dates/kajoor is 'hot' the coolness of the cucumber counter acts the heat in the body.

Ibn al-Qayyim said the cucumber has the following health benefits:
  • Quenches thirst
  • Calms an inflamed stomach
  • Beneficial for pains of the bladder
  • Its seeds are diuretic

The Prophetic Hadith relating that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to eat qiththa (cucumber) with rutab (fresh dates).

- Tirmidhi At'ima 37

It is an amazing way to serve your dates/kajoor; if you slice the date down the middle (not all the way through), remove the seed and replace it with a small piece of cucumber.

USING MISWAK

Personally I find this Sunnah to be so easy to bring into your life and keep using it even after Ramadan, it is one I started many years ago alhamdulillah and I have seen so many results!

I feel every Muslim home should have a miswak in the bathroom which is the best place to be constantly reminded to use it. When you're brushing your teeth or making wudhu it's just a quick step to add and even using it for a few seconds can increase your life with so much blessings as well as the health benefits of using a miswak (whitening your teeth, strengthening your gums etc)

READING MORE QURAAN AND ZIKR

This is how we should be spending our time during this blessed month. Keep our tongue moving while we constantly make zikr of Allah, praying for forgiveness and reading much more Quraan.
We should be cutting out a lot of our worldly pass times like watching tv, listening to music or checking our social media and really be feeding our soul spiritually.

islamic, sunnah, lifestyle blog post, muslimah blog post, healthy, fittness, Quraan, zikr, ramadan decorations, ramadan decor, ramadan food prep, blog, blogger, beauty blog, beauty blogger, lifestyle, lifestyle blogger, ramadan, muslim, islam, muslimah, hijabi. hijabi blogger, ramadan prep, pray, faith, beauty with zainy, zainab dokrat, motivational, inspire, religion, fairylights, roses, ramadan pictures, ramadan mubarak, ramadan kareem, happy, fasting, blessed monthThere are so many Quraan plans that have been rotating on social media on how to complete an entire Quraan in Ramadan. The Quraan was revealed in Ramadan to our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and so the rewards to reading Quraan especially finishing it in this month is endless.

We can use all this free time to read more than we usually do, to practice our tajweed more so that reading in arabic flows easily from our lips and we can use this time to even memorize some surahs.
We should also keep our tongue wet in the zikr of Allah constantly no matter what we are doing; cooking, working, driving, laying down etc. This is a good way to spend our time so we don't let a minute go without praying.

READING SALAAH ON TIME 🕗

islamic, sunnah, lifestyle blog post, muslimah blog post, healthy, fittness, Quraan, zikr, ramadan decorations, ramadan decor, ramadan food prep, blog, blogger, beauty blog, beauty blogger, lifestyle, lifestyle blogger, ramadan, muslim, islam, muslimah, hijabi. hijabi blogger, ramadan prep, pray, faith, beauty with zainy, zainab dokrat, motivational, inspire, religion, fairylights, roses, ramadan pictures, ramadan mubarak, ramadan kareem, happy, fasting, blessed month

What better time than to lock down our 5 times salaah on time in Ramadan. No one is perfect from missing salaah to just not reading it on time we can all use this month to perfect our connection with Allah. My mum constantly tells me how bad it is to delay salaah and it really is - may Allah forgive us all and guide us.

My goal in Ramadan is to perfect my times of Salaah, to bring the love of standing on my musallah (prayer mat) every day on the right time talking to my Allah.

I will say if you never read your salaah this is the month to start; set alarms, make a chart if necessary and stick to it. Try to not miss a salaah and try to read more than just Tarawee. This new habit you will develop of reading all your prayers on the right time will make it easy to carry on even after Ramadan.

GIVING CHARITY

islamic, sunnah, lifestyle blog post, muslimah blog post, healthy, fittness, Quraan, zikr, ramadan decorations, ramadan decor, ramadan food prep, blog, blogger, beauty blog, beauty blogger, lifestyle, lifestyle blogger, ramadan, muslim, islam, muslimah, hijabi. hijabi blogger, ramadan prep, pray, faith, beauty with zainy, zainab dokrat, motivational, inspire, religion, fairylights, roses, ramadan pictures, ramadan mubarak, ramadan kareem, happy, fasting, blessed monthThis is the month to take the opportunity of endless blessings and give back to those in need. Now I believe charity is very personal it's not something that should be advertised because it takes away from the essence of giving also you should give through out the year not just Ramadan.
If you are reading this right now you are blessed; from the screen in front of you, clothes on your back, good health, food, shelter, water we really are so blessed and have so much to be thankful for.

Allah has blessed us with so much and He has blessed us with Ramadan, when we fast we get to feel even for a little what so many people feel every day around the world. The struggle for water, clean water, food and so on is something many people are being tested with and not only in 3rd world countries but many 1st world countries as well.

This is the time we should be trying to do as much good, it is the month we need to break our bad habits and start new good habits and what better habit would be amazing to start than to give back. So not only give money but get out there in person; volunteer, help people, help families and even animals. Try to better yourself by helping those in need and see what an amazing difference you can make in someone's life which will also your heart content.

Take the small hunger pain you may feel and channel it to be thankful when you do eat and always try to not waste the blessings Allah has given you.

FAMILY TALEEM

islamic, sunnah, lifestyle blog post, muslimah blog post, healthy, fittness, Quraan, zikr, ramadan decorations, ramadan decor, ramadan food prep, blog, blogger, beauty blog, beauty blogger, lifestyle, lifestyle blogger, ramadan, muslim, islam, muslimah, hijabi. hijabi blogger, ramadan prep, pray, faith, beauty with zainy, zainab dokrat, motivational, inspire, religion, fairylights, roses, ramadan pictures, ramadan mubarak, ramadan kareem, happy, fasting, blessed month

This is something my family has been doing for a while as well, sitting together after supper and reading a few hadiths from the Faza -e- Amaal. Which is a book that has been composed that holds together the many many hadiths narrated by the wives and companions about the sayings and actions of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Taking out 5 - 10 minutes extra in your day depending on how much you read, spending that time reading about the hadiths, stories about the Prophets (AS), sunnahs or anything Islamic related is so beneficial to you and your family.

Taleem (an educational programme) is of vital importance in everyone's home, it serves the purpose of learning, teaching and revising. By repetition an encouragement to practice upon what has been learnt occurs.

It is said that when one attends a taleem even for a second from the one that is held in their town or their home than Allah sends angels to protect that person, their family and their home from any evil for the next 40 days. Having taleem in the home with all the family members present strengthens the bond of the family and keeps any evil out.

I really hope you enjoyed this post.
